it is the opposite process of multiplying polynomials.look for the prime factors :)
 example : 
6 = 2 × 3 , or 12 = 2 × 2 × 3.

Ex. Factor 3x3 + 2x2y - xy2 the common factor is x, divide common facot to each term of the polynomials
 therefore x(3x2 + 2xy - y2)
