     'x+8' be the denominator
[tex] \frac{x+17}{x+8-1} = \frac{3}{2} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{x+17}{x+7} = \frac{3}{2} [/tex]
2(x+17) = 3(x+7)
2x + 34 = 3x + 21
3x- 2x = 34 - 21
x = 13
for the denominator
x + 8 = 13 + 8
         = 21
the fraction therefore is:
