The measure of an angle is 33 degrees less than twice its supplement. What is the measure of the angle and it's supplement?

Sagot :

sol. x + 2x - 33 = 180
        3x = 180 + 33
         3x = 213
 therfore x = 71

so the angle is 71  and its supplement is 109
Let the angle be x
Angle's supplement is 180-x

Equation:
x = 2(180-x) - 33
x = 360 - 2x - 33
x + 2x = 360 - 33
3x = 327
3x/3 = 327/3
x = 109

The measure of each supplementary angles:
Angle: x = 109 °
Angle's supplement = 180-109 = 71 °

ANSWER: The angle's is 109° and its supplement measures 71°

Check:
Supplementary angles have a sum of 180°.
109° + 71° = 180°
180° =180°
