Synthetic division is an easy way to divide polynomials by a polynomial of the form (x - c). It is both a way to calculate the value of a function at c (Remainder Theorem) as well as to check whether or not c is a root of the polynomial (Factor Theorem). A polynomial equation is an equation that has multiple terms made up of numbers and variables. Polynomials can have different exponents. For example, if the highest exponent is 3, then the equation has three roots. The roots of the polynomial equation are the values of x where y = 0.
