A ratio indicates the relative sizes of two or more values. It implies how many times one number contains another. A ratio can be represented as a fraction form, colon form or word form. It is also expressed in its simplest form.

1) The ratio of 10 pentagons is to 8 triangles:

Its ratio is 10:8, however, you can still simplify them as they have a common factor which is 2. Divide both values by 2.

10÷2 : 8÷2 = 5:4

Thus, the ratio is 5:4, 5 to 4 or 5⁄4‌.

2) The ratio of 8 circles is to 6 triangles:

Its ratio is 8:6, however, you can still simplify them as they have a common factor which is 2. Divide both values by 2.

8÷2 : 6÷2 = 4:3

Thus, the ratio is 4:3, 4 to 3 or 4⁄3.

3) The ratio of 18 stars is to 15 pentagons:

Its ratio is 18:15, however, you can still simplify them as they have a common factor which is 3. Divide both values by 3.

18÷3 : 15÷3 = 6:5

Thus, the ratio is 6:5, 6 to 5 or 6⁄5.
