Without friction, an object in motion would never rest until it is stopped by another force. If there is no friction, there is also no way for a car to move forwà rd on the road---the wheels will just keep turning but there is no friction to allow it to move forward. The same thing would happen if you or I wanted to run. A frictionless world would be problomatic.
