Let x be age of Iori and
2x would then be Karen's age (twice as old as Iori), then,
(x + 2x) + 6* = 42 ( 6 because three years times two = 6 (of course they both get older three years from now))
3x + 6 = 42
3x = 42 - 6
3x = 36
x = 36/3
x = 12
Substituting, we'll have;
Iori = 12
karen = 24
