A shield volcano possesses broad dome and shield-like shape due
to the steady flow by flow of lava on the surface of the volcano. The low
impact eruptions cause the lava to easily flow and spread out in thin layers.
With this lava movement, the steady accumulation of lava sheets build up the
shield-like shape of the volcano.
