the length of a rectangular floor is 5m longer than its width.the area of the floor is 84 meter squared???
what expression represent the width of the floor?how about the expression that represents its length????

Let 'L' be the length........... 'W' be the width........... L = W + 5 ----equation 1............. Area =LW.............. Area =84 sq.m................. 84 = (W + 5) W................. 84 = W^2 + 5W................ W^2 + 5W -84 =0 ----for width.............. For length:.............. 84 = L (L-5).............. 84 = L^2 -5L............. L^2 -5L -84=0
