a perfect square is a number that when applied by square root will render a whole number or you can say that it is the result when you square a whole number say
1² = 1
2² = 4
both 1 and 4 are perfect squares.
if we continue we'll have:
3² = 9
4² = 16
5² = 25
therefore 9 is the answer
