The empty set is a set with no elements. It's shown as { } or ∅.
It could be used when there is no number fitting the given description...
e.g.: Find x if x is both odd and even.
Find x if x is both prime and composite.
Otherwise, zero is used..
e.g.: Find x: [tex] x^{2} + 2 = 2[/tex]
