Constant speed refers to how fast an object changes its position. Using the formula of distance traveled over time, you determine the speed of that object. When an object's speed stays the same, it neither accelerates or decelerates and has a constant speed. Constant speed differs from velocity because speed uses total distance traveled whereas velocity takes into account direction.
