It usually occurs in multiplication of fractions
When the numerator of the multiplicand fraction and the denominator of the multiplier fraction (vice versa, denominator of the multiplicand to the numerator of the multiplier) are the same value, you cancel them out but if one is the multiple of another you divide :)
