thus      3x is the other  #
             1/3x + 1/x =    4/3      / multiply the whole equation by 3x
           3x(1/3x + 1/x)   =    3x*4/3
             1+ 3 =  4x
             4x = 4
             x = 1
             the other # = 3x  = 3
