Two cars with average speeds of 40 and 50 km/h,respectively,moved toward each other at 4:00 a.m. If the square of the distance traveled by the second car is 250 times the distance traveled by the first car, at what time will they meet? How far has each traveled by then?

Let x be the time they have traveled

Distance covered by each car:
1st Car at 40kph = 40x
2nd Car at 50 kph = 50x

(50x)² = 250(40x)
2,500x² = 10,000x      (divide both sides by 2,500x)
x = 4

They will meet after 4 hours, which is at 8:00 am.
Distance traveled by
1st car = 160km
 2nd car = 200 km
