Use the Archimedes' Principle stating that the volume of a solid is equal to the volume of the liquid it displaces. An example is if you want to measure a rock, you should put it in a graduated cylinder. Now supposing that you reference point for the water is 10 mL, once you drop the rock in the cylinder, the amount added to it is the volume of the irregular solid. Hope this helps
