filtration- a form of separating liquids and solids (such as sand and water) or separating solid to solid (gravel and sand)
sedimentation- tendency for small particles (like dust and small rocks) to settle at the bottom of a river "stick together" (to be compressed of some sort) and become a sedimentary rock (limestone, sanstone etc.)
