Quarrying is an activity that heavily degrades forestlands because it is the act of obtaining rocks, sands, and soil in a certain area for construction use and may leave the soil bare. Bare soil is susceptible to erosion and landslides and may cause havoc especially when near built-up areas or roads. This is why illegal quarrying is heavily prohibited by DENR and should always be monitored.
