ficial ball diamond is in the form of a square. the distance between the home base and the second base is usually 35 m. find the area and the distances between the bases

Sagot :

The side or distance between consecutive/adjacent bases is:
x² + x² = 35²

2x² = 35²

[tex] \sqrt{2x^{2} } = \sqrt{(35) ^{2} } [/tex]

[tex] \frac{x \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2} } = \frac{35}{ \sqrt{2} } * \frac{ \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2} } [/tex]

[tex] x=\frac{35 \sqrt{2} }{2} [/tex]  meter
The distance between adjacent bases is  [tex] \frac{35 \sqrt{2} }{2} [/tex] meter

The area of the ball field is:
Area of Square = (side)²

Area = [tex] (\frac{35 \sqrt{2} }{2} meter)^{2} [/tex]

Area = [tex] \frac{(1,225)(2)}{4} meter^{2} [/tex]

Area = 612.5 m²
