One might wonder why poor Filipinos continue to fail; it's because Filipinos have been led to believe that simply being "happy" makes them "winners." That's a nice philosophy to live by, but it doesn't really solve anything financially. You can't be truly happy if you're hungry or, worse, see your children in poverty. We must all accept that reality is slapping us in the face, that being happy is insufficient, and that we must work hard to improve our lives. When we realize all of this, we will experience a change in our mentality.
