Primary Sources are those sources which have original information and which have been published, reported or recorded for the first time. The sources are usually created soon after the event or observation has been made.
- Examples of Primary sources are: periodicals, newspapers, technical reports, theses and dissertations, conference papers, patents, standards.
Secondary Sources of information are mostly dependent upon primary sources of information for their existence. They usually present the contents of primary documents in condensed form. Information from primary sources is organized in secondary sources of information.
- Examples of secondary sources includes: Indexing/abstracting journals, textbooks, surveys, reference books and technical translations.
