Argumentative Essay (Libraries or Online as Platform of Reading)
As online learning becomes more prevalent and more materials are transferred to digital form, some have proposed that public libraries be closed and everyone be given an iPad with an e-reader subscription in their stead.
Proponents of this idea claim that it will save local cities and towns money because libraries are expensive to maintain, and that it will encourage more people to read because they won't have to travel to a library to get a book; instead, they can simply click on what they want to read and read it from wherever they are. They also claim that libraries will be able to rent out as many digital copies as they need because they won't have to buy physical copies of books.
Excessive use of tablets and mobile devices is linked to more significant health problems like fibromyalgia, shoulder and back discomfort, carpal tunnel syndrome, and muscular strain. I've noticed that if I read for too long on my e-reader, my eyes become fatigued and my neck hurts. We should not exacerbate these issues by providing more incentive for people, particularly young people, to stare at screens.
While it may appear like replacing libraries with tablets is a straightforward answer, it would encourage individuals to spend even more time staring at digital screens, despite the numerous difficulties that surround them. It would also put an end to many of the library's perks on which people have grown to rely. Libraries are such an integral element of the community network in many locations that they could never be replaced by a simple object.
