Spaniards arrived in the Phillippines by coincedence while taking the asked spices in Indonesia. In Mactan Cebu 5 ships Trinidad, the San Antonio, the Conception, the Victoria and the Santiago. They arrived here
and named land in "La islas Filipinas" or The Philippines in English in honor for the king of Spain King Phillip II.
They tried to colonized the land but miserably failed and tried to escape but 3 of the ships were broken and the other ship was captured by the Portugese.
3 years onto the expidition only 1 ship returned the Victoria and completing Magellan's goal for the first man to go around the globe
