Bonus 14 points for whoever answers this correct.The length of line segment X is 4/3 of the length of line segment Y. If line segment X is 8 cm longer than line segment Y, what is the length of line segment X.

Sagot :

X = 4/3 (Y)
X = Y + 8 

Equation:

4/3 (Y) = Y + 8
4/3Y - Y = 8

4/3Y - 3/3Y = 8
1/3Y = 8
1/3Y (3/1) = 8 (3/1)
Y = 24 cm

To find the length of X:
X = Y + 8
   = 24 + 32

X = 4/3 (24)
   = 32

The length of X segment is 32 cm.
