Elements that usually forms covalent bonds are non-metals, located on the upper right of the periodic table. Meanwhile, it is not possible for metals and non-metals to form non-polar covalent bonds because to form a non-polar covalent bond, two atoms or elements must be non-metal and resulted to an equal sharing of valence electrons, rather a non-metal and metal can form an ionic bond. Same with polar-covalent bond, metals and non-metal cannot form this particular chemical bond (polar covalent bond).
