At a pet shop there were 10 more dogs than cats. The shop sold 2 dogs and bought 2 cats. Now there are twice as many dogs than cats.how many cats does the shop have now?

Let the original number of cats be x and dogs be x + 10.

(x + 10) - 2 = 2 (x + 2)
x + 8 = 2x + 4
4 = x

The shop now has x + 2 or 6 cats.
