Answer: When we shake a wet cloth, water droplets come off from it, because of inertia of rest. Water drops in the wet cloth were in a position of rest. When shaken, the cloth moves suddenly, but the droplets have a tendency to remain at rest owing to the property of inertia and they are detached from the cloth.
