Peripheral devices connect with a computer through several I/O interfaces, such as communications (COM), Universal Serial Bus (USB), and serial ports such as serial advanced technology attachment (SATA) ones. A Peripheral Device is defined as the device which provides input/output functions for a computer and serves as an auxiliary computing device without computing-intensive functionality. A peripheral device is a device that is connected to a computer system but is not part of the core computer system architecture. Input or output devices that are connected to the computer are called peripheral devices. These devices are designed to read information into or out of the memory unit upon command from the CPU and are considered to be part of the computer system. These devices are also called peripherals.
