Answer:
it depends. If the speech is a very structured speech, lots of PowerPoint slides, prepared notes, etc, then I feel very confident when I go out to deliver it. Preparation makes a lot of difference in your confidence level, as you know that you are the expert on the subject you are presenting. On the other side of this, when I have to give an impromptu speech, I am less confident, even a little nervous, about what I am about to say and where the presentation is going, but I also realize that most of the time your audience is rooting for you to succeed. As I learned in a speech presentation class; We all get butterflies before and during presentations, the key is getting them to fly in formation towards your goal.
