Giant Mimer was admired for his wisdom but was tricked and deceived by Father Odin. Because of Father Odin's trickery, Giant Mimer was being condemned by his people, thus his head was cut of and was sent to Father Odin. Father Odin's act of deception towards giant Mimer was so condemning. He wanted to be the wisest man. He supersede Giant Mimer by tricking him, although others admired him for his wits, others condemned him for his behavior.
