Can anybody give more information about 'Principal Functions of Nouns in Sentences​'? I'm having a bit of difficulty with the lesson. Help will be very appreciated, thank you!

A noun will function as the subject of a verb when it is the subject of the sentence and comes before the main verb of the sentence.
