These are sociologically called as gender roles. This is where certain activities are tied to either masculine (e.g. hunting for game) or feminine (e.g taking care of babies) traits.
It is important to note, however, that gender roles are arbitrary and vary from culture to culture and, ultimately, gender roles are a social construct.
