Cyberbullying was brought to the mainstream after online harassment resulted in multiple teen suicides. One of the earliest cases occurred in 2007 when 13-year-old Megan Meier died by suicide after neighbors created a fake Myspace profile under the name “Josh Evans” to harass her.
