As a student, I learned that appropriate bandaging technique is important cause it helps to reduce swelling. In case of a wound, bandaging helps to stop bleeding. Bandaging helps to restrict the movement of an injured body part.
I realized that bandaging covers a break in the skin, and helps to control bleeding and protect against infection. Dressings are pads of gauze or cloth that can be placed directly against the wound to absorb blood and other fluids. Cloth bandages cover dressings and hold them in place.
I will apply the bandage firmly, but not tightly, and secure the end by folding it over and tying a knot in the end. You can also use a safety pin, tape or a bandage clip. as soon as the bandage is on, ask if it feels too tight and check the circulation by pressing on a fingernail or a piece of skin until it turns pale.
