HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF PERIODIC TABLE
Let us know the history of a periodic table.
1789
- Antonic Lavosier, a french nobleman, classified the elements with similar properties into groups.
1808
- John Dalton set up the table of elements accdg to their relative atomic weights and published findings in his book "A New System Of Chemical Philosophy".
1828
- Jacob Berzelius improved the work of Dalton and published a table of atomiv weights w/54 elements.
1829
- Johann W. Dobereiner analyzed the existing elements and classified them into groups of three and called these are TRIADS.
1864
- John Newlands arranged the elements in the order of increasing atomic weights into groups of eight elements. The first and the eight elements share similar properties (Law of Octaves).
1869
- Dmitri Mendeleev arranged the elements in order of increasing atomic mass, leaving a number of gaps reserved for undiscovered elements. He called histable the Periodic Table w/c paved the way for the periodic law.
1869
- Julius Lothar Meyer arranged the elements in the order of increasing atomic weights based on the plotted value of atomic volume and atomic number.
1940
- Glenn Seaborg synthesized transuranic elements (The element after uranium in the periodic table) he configured the periodic table by placing the actinide series below the Lanthanide series.
HENRY G. MOSELEY (1887 - 1915)
- An english Physicist in 1913 observed that the frequencies of X-rays emitted from atoms of elements were correlated with the sizes of their nuclear charge of an atom, its atomic number (2) he published the result of his work on 39 elements, arranging them accdg. to increasing atomuc numbers.
