1. Abraham Lincoln accused newspapers in border states of being biased against the South. He
ordered many of them to be shut down.
2. In the years before World War II, Hitler accused newspapers of having a Marxist bias.
3. In the 1980s, the South African government accused newspapers of liberal bias and ordered
censorship over them, shutting one down for a time.
4. During the Vietnam War, Spiro Agnew called anti-war protestors the "nattering nabobs of
negativism." He accused newspapers of being biased against America.
5. During the civil rights movement, production companies were accused
of bias against mixed-race storylines. Some southern stations refused to air shows with
mixed casts such as Star Trek and I Spy.
6. During apartheid in South Africa non-whites were viewed as "lesser than" or "inferior" to their
white counterparts based on opinion.
7. It is believed that Adolf Hitler came into contact with antisemitic ideas at an early age, which
fueled his prejudice against Jewish people.
8. The thought that a Black teen is a thug just because of the way they act or dress.
9. A boss's prejudicial thoughts about racial minorities being lazy at work can lead to the
discriminatory treatment of more performance reviews.
10. Some parents will not approve of their children marrying anyone of a different race. Typically,
these parents believe their ethnic or cultural background is superior to others, highlighting their ethnocentricity.​
