Differentiate between quadratic equation and linear equation ..

Sagot :

A quadratic equation has the form:
ax² + bx + c = y , with a ≠ 0 , this forms a parabola
While a linear equation has a form:
mx + b = y , and this forms a straight line.
In quadratic equation, you will be dealing with equations that involve mostly "2" as variables' exponents. In short, there are "squares" in variables like "x squared," "y squared," and the like.
 Example:             [tex] x^{2} [/tex]  - 6x + 6 = [tex] x^{2} [/tex]  -12x

In linear equations, there are no exponents in variables.
Example:           -6x + 6 = - 12x
