Yes, it does need. Being a language teacher, you have to learn the basics of using that language you're teaching. You also need to be patient and passionate. As far as I know, you need to have a good grammar in teaching and explaining to your students. How can you improve their understanding if you doesn't know how to speak and teach properly?
