Miserere mei, Deus (Have mercy on me, O God) is Psalm 51 that can be found in the book of Psalms. For me, this song is one of the perfect songs that is cherished by the church. So beautiful that the notes are kept hidden and is guarded inside the church. This song calls out to God that he may have mercy on our poor wretched souls. The arrangement by Allegri is so beautifully crafted where the gifts given unto us-the gift of singing is used in praising and asking the mercy of God. In this song, I can say that us, humans, humbled ourselves and acknowledged that we are dependent on God. We put our trust towards God; hoping that he may deliver us from evil and cleanse our souls.
