Ten years ago, John was four times as old as Bill. Now he is only twice as old as Bill. Find their present ages.
Solution:
Let x= Bill's present age
2x= John's age now
x-10= Bill's age ten years ago
2x-10 = John's age ten years ago
4(x-10) = 2x-10
4x-40 = 2x-10
4x-2x = -10 + 40
2x = 30
x= 14
Bill's present age is 15 while John's present age is 30.
Enjoy doing homework! :))
Happy weekend!
